A small family business with a love for horses and adventure
At TNTHorseandHeart, we don’t just offer holidays—we offer meaningful, transformative experiences rooted in love for horses, nature, craft, and community. Whether you're here to ride along the coast, learn from a herd of rescue horses, build a bridle by hand, or simply reconnect with yourself, this is a place where people of all backgrounds are warmly welcomed.
Founded by Tom, a qualified adventure guide, teacher, and craftsman, TNTHorseandHeart began as a dream to create a life in harmony with horses, children, and the land. Alongside his son Tori, who shares his love of horses, Tom has nurtured a space where people and animals grow together. Many of the horses here were taken in when others could no longer care for them, and now thrive through love, training, and mutual respect.
What started as a family homeschool project has become a vibrant farm and retreat centre that attracts guests from around the world for working holidays, volunteering, beach rides, and adventure experiences.
Tom’s passions go far beyond riding. He’s a skilled and self-taught artisan in:
Woodwork
Metalwork
Leatherwork
From saddle bags and bridles to breastplates, halters, horse archery bows, buggie, and working harnesses for ploughing—everything is crafted by hand. He even creates homemade car-tyre hoof boots for barefoot horses and performs all his own barefoot trimming.
Tom loves to share these nearly lost handicraft skills with others. If you’re curious and willing to learn, you are welcome to take part in leather crafting, woodwork, natural building, or bushcraft sessions during your stay.
Tom is a qualified Spatial Dynamics practitioner, a form of biomechanical body-awareness work that helps riders develop a better relationship between their body shape and their horse’s movement, making riding more effective, safe, and comfortable for both horse and rider.
He brings a rich background as a Waldorf class teacher, sports and games instructor, music educator, and circus skills teacher. This makes him especially attuned to working with children and adolescents, and he takes pride in creating a safe and encouraging space for neurodivergent individuals. TNTHorseandHeart actively welcomes diversity in all forms—race, religion, gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
Local children are always welcome too—Tom offers free horse riding lessons to kids in the community who would otherwise never have the chance to meet a horse, let alone ride one.
Whether you come for a week or a month, there are multiple ways to experience TNTHorseandHeart:
Stay at Buccaneers Lodge, a beautiful beachside destination where you’ll enjoy:
Scenic coastal horse rides
All meals and accommodation included
Time to unwind between forest and sea
Opportunities to connect with both horses and community
Perfect for families, solo travelers, and couples looking for an unforgettable equestrian escape.
This is a hands-on, immersive experience for those wanting more than a typical vacation:
Care for and train horses
Do daily chores like feeding, grooming, and cleaning
Learn heart-based horsemanship methods
Volunteer time on meaningful farm projects
Practice barefoot trimming and natural horse care
Spend part of your stay giving back to the local community by:
Supporting young children in play and early education
Sharing stories, games, and laughter
Building genuine connections with local families
With Tom as your guide:

Canoeing on nearby rivers
Surfing along the wild South African coast (lessons included)
Hiking through hills, forests, and coastal trails
Camping under the stars with fire-cooked meals
Crafts and skills: bow-making, nature-based art, survival skills
Each activity is rooted in mindfulness, fun, and connection with nature.
This is more than a break from routine—it’s a return to what matters.
At TNTHorseandHeart, you’ll learn new skills, form deep connections, and gain a new appreciation for your body, your breath, and the beautiful animals who share their world with us. You’ll leave with:
Renewed confidence
Practical skills in horse care and natural living
A supportive network of people who value authenticity, compassion, and play
A heart full of unforgettable memories
Whether you're here to ride the waves or ride a horse, build a bridle or build yourself back up, TNTHorseandHeart is ready to welcome you, just as you are.
